Introducing the 5 technologies.

In describing the 5 technologies within the Comparison Center, are there any creative ways to introduce or demonstrate the different technologies? This is a great opportunity to share best practices and learn from one another.

With the set up of Comfort by Color, I find it less difficult to introduce the five technologies we have. Instead of calling the beds by name/brand, I just introduce by pillowtop, firm, plush, contour and personalized. It less confusing for the customers and it gets them to try all five.

Ways to introduce the 5 Technologies:
1. Contoured- conforms giving you support where you need it and softness where you want it.
2. Firm- the ultimate support with the least amount of sink to stay more on top of the mattress.
3. Plush- gives you the same support as firm but with more comfort layers to allow some sink in the mattress.
4. Pillwtop- has the same support as firm but with the most comfort layers to allow the most sink possible.
5. Personalized- offers all comforts in one. It allows you make your mattress feel firm, plush, and gives the sink of a pillowtop. Also gives the durability of contoured.

Introducing the 5 Technologies:

Having the CBC method is such a great tool, it make the 5 technologies intro easier to do for you have the Personalized, which offers all comforts in one, and also gives the durability of contoured. Then you have the Contoured, which gives you support where you need it and softness where you want it. At this point now you have three technologies left and they are as follows firm, plush, and pillow top, starting with the firm, the firm mattress is designed to give support with the least amount of sink-ness, then the plush is next with a firm support and a layer of comfort relief, and finally the pillow-top which gives the most comfort relief, which allows ultimate pressure relief on the body.

INTRODUCING THE FIVE DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES WITHIN THE COMPARISON CENTER:

FIRM: TRADITIONL INTERSPIRNG MATTRESS THAT ELIMATES THE PILLOW TOP: WITH THAT SAID, YOU WILL GET A MAXIMUM FEELING FIRM MATTRESS WITH SUPPORT UNDERNEATH.

PLUSH: AGAIN PLUSH IS ANOTHER TRADITIONAL INTERSPRING MATTRESS. HOWEVER, YOU ARE GOING TO TO FEEL A LITTLE CUSHION WHERE YOUR BODY COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE BED. ALLOWING THE BED TO BECOME SOFTER.

PLUSH IS GOING TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. NOT TOO HARD AND NOT TOO SOFT. KINDA GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

PILLOW TOP: PILLOW TOP IS GOING TO FEEL LIKE YOU ARE SLEEPING ON A CLOUD. IT IS GOING TO BE THE SOFTEST FEELING MATTRESS, BUT WITH DEEP DOWN SUPPORT WHERE YOU NEED IT.

CONTOURED: THE BEST BEDS OUT THERE THAT MONEY CAN BUY. CONTOURED BEDS ARE THE ABILITY TO ELIMINATE PRESSURE POINTS WHICH CAUSE YOU TO TOSS AND TURN AT NIGHT, NOT GETTING A GOOD ENOUGH SLEEP.

PERSONALIZED: FIRST QUESTION TO ASK: "IS IT VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO PERSONILIZE THE COMFORT OF YOUR BED?"

Personalized allows you to control the firmness of your mattress for the next 20 years! It is a mattress that can change with the touch of a button.
Firm is going to have excellent support with cushion layers that are sewn tightly giving a firmer feel.
Plush has the same excellent support as the Firm model, but there is more loft in the cushion that will provide a much softer feel.
Pillowtop gives you a complete seperated layer of cushion on top of the same firm support. This will provide an even softer, pillowy feel.
Contoured is going to respond to your body temperature and weight and will provide proper spinal alignment while relieving all pressure points.

Nicole's way of introducing the five mattress technologies:

Pillowtop
The pillowtop or red mattresses will offer the softest, surface comfort having you feel as though you were laying on a cloud, which while soft, is very supportive and will cradle your every move with pillow like softness.

Plush
The plush or orange mattresses provide a medium softness on the surface between the super soft pillowtop and the less soft firm. Still supportive, the plush comfort just soft enough.

Firm
The firm or yellow mattresses have the least amount of surface give, offering the firmest comfort of all. Though firm, the mattress does not have to be hard, as many will incorporate pressure-relieving materials to enhance your comfort.

Contoured
The mattresses in the green category, contoured, offer a support unique to the individual as the materials are temperature and weight sensitive and will conform to your body giving you support and pressure relief.

Personalized
The blue mattresses represent the personalized category. Here you have the comfort of your ideal mattress literally in the palm of your hand. It allows you to adjust the comfort and support to your preference.

Firm: Coil innerspring with the firmest feel and great support.

Plush: Coil innerspring with support, but a little bit softer feel. Kind of a middle ground between the firm and pillowtop.

Pillowtop: Coil innerspring with the softest over all feeling. Comes in various levels of softness.

Contoured: Ultimate combination of support and conformance. No pressure points that are sometimes associated with normal innerspring mattresses.

Personalized:The only bed that you can not only change the firmness, but also can make it individualized for each person.

They way Miano makes his Millions with CBC:

Contoured: With a countoured mattress YOU are going to experience the ultimate in sleep comfort. Not only does this mattress conform to YOUR specific body type but it will adjust and change as YOUR body and comfort levels change. And is guarnteed to do this over the next 20 years.

Firm: With the traditional inner spring mattresses YOU are going to get that support that YOU are looking for in all three (firm, plush, and pillow top) while having the option to choose which comfort level YOU want. The firm is obvisouly going to be the firmest feel for those that don't like too much cushion. The pillow-top will give YOU the most cushion and the softest feel. And for those that would like a little bit of both, well we have that too with our Plush models that will be that in-between feel.

Personalized: With modern technology we can now have a mattress that will adjust to us and change with us as we get older and our comfort levels change. Since most people change their minds, likes and dislikes all the time, wouldn't it be nice to have a mattress that changes with YOU that will also last YOU a very long time?

I keep it very simple by explaining to the customer that most of our clients have not shopped for a bed in years or even decades so they may not be familiar with the 5 technologies that are available today to meet their sleep needs. Then I pretty much stick to the verbage on the signs while touching or pushing down on the tops.
I am very careful not to tell the customer how the bed will feel. It is not up to me to tell a client how to feel.

When introducing the five technologies found in the Comparison Center, I find it easy to really “dumb it down” so that it is super simple for the customer.

I introduce the personalized first, so that if they like the idea of personalizing their comfort I can jump right into finding their sleep number.

Next are our three traditional innerspring mattresses firm, pillowtop and plush. Which are hard, softer and medium in surface comfort with the same support underneath.

Last but definitely not least is the contoured technology. I also give them an ergo demonstration and ask them if that is something that interests them.

Contoured
Memory Foam mattresses are not only the best option in the mattress industry for orthopedic solutions, but also the products with the highest customer satisfaction of any bed in our store. By contouring to each individual’s unique body shape, Memory Foam beds provide the ultimate and personalized support. Also, because all Memory Foam beds are spring free you will have the added benefit of reduced pressure points. These benefits translate directly into higher quality sleep.

Personalized
This category is unique and allows you to control the firmness of your mattress. It is a great option for couples who disagree on the level of firmness that is right for them.

Firm
Firm mattresses are going to provide the most supportive feel.

Plush
Plush beds provide comparable support to the Firm model, but also give some cushion that will provide a much softer feel.

Pillow Top
This feel gives you the luxurious feel of a softer bed but, contrary to popular belief does not compromise support. New technologies and higher quality foams have eliminated the compromised support of older pillow top beds.

I THINK THAT IT IS WERY IMPORTRANT TO SET EXPECTATIONS WITH ALL OF THE FIVE TECHNOLOGIES, BUT THE PERSONALIZED SHOULD BE THE LAST ONE. AFTER HAVING THE CUSTOMER TRY THE FIRST FOUR (FIRM, PLUSH, PILLOWTOP, AND CONTOURED), HAVE THEM PICK THE ONE THAT THEY LIKE BEST. THE REASON FOR THAT IS SO THAT THEY CAN CONCENTRATE ON WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO TELL THEM ABOUT PERSONALIZED, AS IT DOES TAKE A LITTLE MORE ACTIVE LISTENING. ASK IF THEY WOULD LIKE IT FIRMER OR SOFTER, AND ADJUST IT THAT WAY. AFTER THAT ASK IF THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THEIR MATTRESS IS IMPORTANT. IF YES, START YOUR SLEEP # PRESENTATION AND FIND THEIR NUMBER. IF NOT COUNTINUE WITH THE OTHER COLOR THAT THEY CHOSE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GIVE THE SLEEP # A FAIR SHAKE, OTHERWISE THE CUSTOMER WILL LAY DOWN, PUSH A BUTTON, AND SAY THAT THEY DID NOT FEEL ANYTHING.

Firm- traditional innerspring with a firm surface offering great support with little surface give.

Plush- also a traditional innerspring mattress- supportive underneath with a cushion surface to eliminate pressure points.

Pillow Top- traditional innerspring with deep down support and an added comfort layer to relieve additional pressure- great for if you sleep on your side.

Contour- provides the maximum support by eliminating innersprings and molds to your body to relieve pressure points. it's soft where you want it and firm where you need it.

Personalized- The blue beds allow you to personalize your sleep by controlling the firmness with a remote. Each person can control their side of the bed to reach their individual comfort level.

Contoured: Conforms to the curves of your body giving maximum pressure relief.

Pillowtop: Firm support system with a softer "pillowy" top.

Plush: Same firm support system with comfort between firm and pillowtop.

Firm: Same firm support system with the firmest top.

Personalized: Adjustable comfort and support system. You set it to how you like it.

I introduce the beds in this order.

Firm is a traditional innerspring mattress that offers great support with very little surface give.

Pillowtop is the same firm innerspring with lots of pillowy upholstery layers to give a cradling effect.

Plush is a balance between the pillowtop and the firm.

Contoured beds provide pressure-relieving support. These beds have no metal coils so they will provide the best body contouring.

I do the sleep number last because that requires a little more time.

Personalized mattresses give you the ultimate in adjustable comfort. They have the ability to be as firm or as soft as you like with just the touch of a button.

I tend to introduce the five technologies in a very simple way so that the customer will not become confused and so I will not be the one doing all the talking. I first explain how the sleep number bed and Tempurpedic are the latest in technology and invite them to try both. Then I will show them the three different choices they have among the more traditional innerspring mattresses and explain comfort based on the firmness of each bed. While introducing all of these I will try to get them as involved as I can by inviting and asking rather than telling them to try a bed.
